Online massage appointments - are they worth it?
Online scar massage / online postnatal massage
With the recent government update, it looks like I won't be back treating hands-on as soon as I was expecting. I am, however continuing to support clients with online massage treatments including scar massage, postnatal massage and support appointments.
From seeing how effective and helpful these sessions have been, online appointments are now part of my regular offerings, enabling me to reach clients outside of the Brighton and Hove area, as well as new mums who aren't yet ready to leave the house or their babies.
Online massage therapy may sound a bit odd - how can 'massage therapy work online? - but these sessions can be just as worthwhile as a hands-on massage treatment, get you feeling better in yourself and get you on the road to recovery post-birth or post-op.
During an online scar or online postnatal treatment, we work through the same things we would in person. You will learn -
Breath-work to reconnect with your core and get your pelvic floor functioning well. Breathing well is essential for our health, but it can also help reestablish good pelvic floor function, strengthen your core and rebuild core connection. We will also learn how to release other muscles involved in respiration that may be restricting breath - in your chest, back and neck.
How to massage your abdomen to release any adhesion's, tension and pulling from growing a baby, postural changes that arouse prenatally and through caring for your baby and if you had a c-section to release and realign scar tissue.
If you have had surgery such as a c-section, we will also learn how to massage and release your scar - to reduce swelling, overhang, pulling, numbness, sensitivity and allow your organs and tissues to ''unstick'' from each other. Getting your core back to functioning optimally.
Pelvic floor activation and relaxation exercises are always included in postnatal appointments to help prevent any damage from occurring, start to rebuild strength in the core and encourage any tummy separation to come back together.
If you've booked for online postnatal treatment, after we've addressed the core and breathing muscles, we will follow this with self-massage techniques, stretching and strengthening work to release any other aches and pains you may be suffering. Common postnatal issues include - stiffness in your neck and shoulders, hip pain, wrist pain, lower back and jaw pain. There are lots of easy tips I can teach you to manage these at home by yourself or maybe even encourage your partner to do for you!
So not only do you get an incredibly worthwhile session with me, but you will go away with the skills you need to continue your recovery and care yourself at home in your own time.
We also offer online massage support for other non-pregnancy/scar related issues. If you're suffering from aches and pains and want to learn how you can use self-massage techniques, stretching and strengthening exercises to feel better.
