Sports Massage/ Clinical Massage/ Deep Tissue Massage/ Soft Tissue Therapy

  • Sports Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Clinical massage or Soft Tissue Massage are essentially the same treatment just by a different name.

It involves the manipulation of the soft tissues (muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia) of the body, focusing on the areas of the body that are in need of treatment but always treating the body holistically as a whole.

A variety of advanced hands-on massage techniques are used, including (if suitable for you) effleurage, petrissage, compression, tapotement, vibration, myofascial work, trigger point work and friction.

We also use neuromuscular techniques to reset the brain and nervous system, such as muscle energy technique (MET/PNF stretching) and STR (Soft Tissue Release) stretching techniques.

Instrumented assisted massage (IASTM) and medical acupuncture/dry needling can also be included.

  • Sports Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Clinical massage or Soft Tissue Massage is great for both keen exercisers and anyone who wants to relax, reduce pain, restore function and improve movement within the body.

So whether you’re suffering from general aches and stress from work or home life, or looking for a way to improve your sporting performance/keep injury free between training - we can help.

You don’t have to be a marathon runner to need a sports massage!

If you’re looking for a purely relaxing treatment, we recommend our Well-being massage.

  • This type of massage can help:

    • reduce pain

    • ease stiffness, and tensions in the body

    • reduce muscular spasms

    • reduce swelling

    • help prevent injury

    • speed up recovery

    • improve energy levels

    • reduce stress

    • improve sleep

    • improve range of movement/ flexibility

  • Always personalised to you, before your appointment, we’ll ask you what your goals are from the treatment to ensure you get exactly what you need from your massage.

We will perform an assessment visually, and manually of your issues either in standing or on the massage couch, to help determine the course of our treatment.

We can work both on skin and through clothes so you will only undress to a level that is comfortable to you.

Following your treatment, homecare advice, stretching and additional strength or functional information will be provided.

Our aim is always to help you understand your body better and for you to be able to continue your care at home - we believe in long term not short term help.

Please note that appointment times include assessment times and dressing time, so expect around 50 minutes of hands on massage in a 60 minute treatment.

All of our therapists are highly qualified, fully insured and members of professional governing bodies.

“I hurt my hip after playing cricket, an injury I've never had and found it difficult to even walk to work. Went to Hannah who was really good at assessing the potential injuries and treating tightness in my hip area. She was really friendly and gave me good insights into sports injuries and tips for recovery. Felt like I was chatting to a friend rather than being talked down to by an expert. Fully recommend.”
